(Not A) Ted Talk Tuesday: Shannon McGarity on Creative Ideation

May 9, 2017

Shannon mentioned creative ideation briefly when we talked, and if you're wondering what creative ideation is, it's like brainstorming, only better.

If you've ever been in a brainstorming session that's unproductive or downright painful, (I had a boss who liked to pull us into meetings on the fly where we had no idea what the topic would be and basically put on the spot- not a recipe for productive idea generation) the notion that it can be creative, productive and even fun is a breath of fresh air.

Shannon's talk, at World Information Architecture Day, about leading creative ideation is a distillation of some of the classes she teaches and the kinds of sessions she and her Cooper colleagues lead with clients. If you're a manager (or even just someone who participates in brainstorming sessions) her presentation has tools and techniques that will make you think, "Hey, this could be really fun!"

On My Mind...
March 2, 2018

After a January that felt like it lasted forever, February flew by. I'm happy it's March because it finally feels like the days are getting longer, I'm starting to see green things coming up from the ground, and it's Women's History Month. While we celebrate women's accomplishments all year round, it seems like I always learn about lots of cool women and their contributions every March...
