Shannon McGarity started her career at the same time that the internet as we know it was taking off. She says, "I glommed on to the technology and the opportunities with the technology to create things I loved." Coupled with her willingness to become "really comfortable with discomfort" when taking on new challenges, Shannon has designed websites, been an art director, and spent over ten years running her own business. Today, as Director of User Experience at Cooper, Shannon manages consulting projects, mentors other designers, and teaches colleagues and clients about design and creative ideation, and has a life she loves in New York City.
Today, Shannon McGarity is Director of User Experience at Cooper, a user experience design and strategy firm. Her job that lets her be both a coach and a player, managing people and teaching classes and designing client solutions. Shannon's education in interactive telecommunications in the mid-90s gave her the tools she needed to jump into creating “work that people might use and see on the web.”
